Abstract
Rapid changes in social and economic environments have brought about more anxiety on later life after retirement. Thus, the personal retirement preparation is getting more and more important. The purpose of this study was to analyze both subjective and objective retirement preparation of individuals and to investigate the casual effects among the variables related to retirement preparation. Using the survey data on 373 potential retirees, the study was conducted. Based on the Fishbein & Ajzen(1975)¡¯s theory of reasoned action, the empirical model was constructed to investigate the casual effects on recognition and attitude towards retirements and retirement preparations. The results showed that jobs, recognition and attitude towards retirement had direct effects on the objective retirement preparation. In addition, age, monthly income, homeownership, and education related to retirement preparation had indirect effects through the recognition and attitude towards retirement on the objective retirement preparation. For the subjective retirement preparation, monthly income, the recognition and attitude towards retirement had direct effects on the subjective retirement preparation while monthly income, age, and education related to retirement had indirect effects through the recognition towards retirement on the subjective retirement preparation.
